LIST OF ASSESSMENTS.

  • Functional capacity assessments for people with a mental illness are a critical part of figuring out their support needs. We offer standardised assessments of functioning and adaptive behaviour that comment on level of disability in key areas such communication, daily living skills, social skills, and community integration.

  • We offer standardised cognitive assessments that evaluate general intellectual functioning, functional cognition, memory and attention, and frontal lobe functioning - executive functions. Typically, we get requests for cognitive assessments from NDIS participants with acquired brain injury (ABI), cerebral palsy, dementia, and intellectual disabilities.

  • Two types of adult ADHD assessments are on offer:

Standardised ADHD diagnostic assessments that are aligned with DSM V diagnostic criteria, are comprehensive. This includes assessing early school and psychosocial history, cognitive functioning, symptom assessment and current functional impact.

ADHD and current functional impact for those who already have a diagnosis of ADHD, but need to understand current symptom severity, impact and obtain support recommendations to manage the functional impact of their ADHD.

  • We use the ADI-R, i.e., the Autism Diagnostic Interview (Revised) with adolescents and adults, and provide detailed reports on level of functional impact as well as level of supports required.

  • Brain injury and brain diseases such as stroke, dementia, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, are usually accompanied with changes in behaviour such as elevated aggression, lack of motivation, apathy, diminished emotion regulation, communication difficulties, sleep disruption, changes in social skills, uptick in self-harm, etc. Neurobehavioral assessments evaluate the presence and extent of these issues in people with a brain injury or other such brain diseases.

  • Schizophrenia is a complex condition with fluctuating symptoms, changes in cognitive functioning, and varied functional impact across one’s lifespan. Our assessments are for NDIS participants diagnosed with Schizophrenia. We provide the most current, evidence-based assessments aligned with DSM V diagnostic criteria to evaluate current symptom severity, we include cognitive assessments specific to people with Schizophrenia, risk assessment (harm to self, others, and property) and finally, functional assessment to determine supports.

  • We offer both diagnostic assessments as well as ongoing symptom and functional assessments for people with PTSD, Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and dissociative disorders. These assessment sessions are typically structured to ensure psychological safety and minimising the risk of re-traumatising clients, whilst adhering to the requirements of a robust assessment.

  • We provide diagnostic assessments as well as ongoing assessment of symptoms and functioning using the what is considered to be gold-standard measures and clinical interview schedules. Assessing risk and substance use are are included in these assessments due to high rate of co-occurrence with these conditions.

  • We do not offer diagnostic assessments for personality disorders, but we provide assessment of current personality functioning in line with DSM V criteria, in the areas of identity, self-direction, empathy, intimacy in NDIS participants diagnosed with a personality disorder. The goal of these assessments are to guide risk management and support planning.
